Business tax preparation

Your business return and your personal return can be handled in the same engagement.

I prepare returns for partnerships, LLCs, and corporations, as well as their owners. You get the returns prepared, an explanation of what you owe, and instructions for paying it.

If you also want help during the year, Collaboration includes estimated payments and routine questions. When profit changes, we can update the numbers so you know what to set aside for tax.

Services and fees

Annual filing is for new clients filing by the original deadline. Collaboration adds help during the year, a video explanation of your return, and a year-end check-in.

We’ll agree on a fixed fee before starting. Get an initial estimate.

More about what’s included

Return scope

This covers one entity’s federal business return and one state return, with owner or partner K-1s where applicable. The proposal lists whether your personal return is also included. Up to three hours of routine year-end tax adjustments are included. Further bookkeeping cleanup or reconstruction is discussed separately.

Estimates, questions, and the year-end check-in

If profit changes, you can ask what to set aside or whether to adjust a payment. We calculate estimates for the taxes in your engagement using the information you provide. We also check in near year-end about expected tax and remaining payments; timing depends on your circumstances and when the figures are available.

Recorded explanation

You receive a video explaining the result, what changed, what to pay, and what needs your attention. You can watch it when it suits you.

Additional work and notice support

Routine questions and estimate updates are included. If answering a question needs more extensive analysis or help carrying out a decision, we’ll explain the additional work and fee before starting. Routine notices on returns we prepared are included; audits, exams, appeals, and extended representation are agreed separately.

We’ll agree on the work, fee, and timing before starting. Business returns require reconciled books. If prior-year problems or unfinished bookkeeping need attention, we’ll discuss what needs to happen first.

Questions about owner pay or a business decision

If you’re deciding how much salary to take, whether to elect S corporation treatment, or how to structure a transaction, you may need more than a return prepared. We can discuss the question, the tax calculations that would help, and the fee for any additional work.

Read about owner salary, S corporation elections, or owner pay and distributions.
